Williams driver Rubens Barrichello satisfied with 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix show – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello is satisfied with his performance in the recently held Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 13.
He talked to the media and said that after getting better results from him in the end of the Abu Dhabi race weekend it would be wrong decision of Williams if they decide to drop him for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
The team driver was unable to take part in the qualifying round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for the first time in his Formula 1 career. Due to some problems in his car’s engine, he could not complete a single lap for the raceday in Qualifiers.
The Brazilian added that it was a lot more pressure on him starting the race from the back of the field, but he tried his best and finish the race in a good position for the team.
Talking to reporters, Barrichello commented, “I fought all the way through, I had nice overtaking and it was very unfortunate that nobody dropped out because I was fighting for 11th up to the very last lap. And, with the car that we have, I think it was
the best we could achieve.”
The 39-year-old driver discussed the Abu Dhabi GP and mentioned that he thinks he did everything he could to get around them for his team. In addition, he stated that he was already at the 18th place by the first lap.
The Williams driver is happy, as he made good recovery throughout the Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit.
He went on to mention, “I just have to be happy with the weekend. It was so frustrating to be out of it, but at least I was giving what I wanted from a weekend – which is a pushy race where I fought all the way through.”
The team driver started the race from the 24th place on the grid and after putting all of his efforts, he ended up in the 12th position for the team.
After taking part in 18 races of the 2011 Formula 1 season, he is placed at the 17th place with 4 points in the drivers’ standings.
Let’s see how he performs in the upcoming Brazil Grand Prix.
