Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello says he wants to have another year in the sport – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello has said that he wants to have another year in Formula 1 sport.
Barrichello added that he does not race in Formula 1 for money and wants to do one more season, because he loves his sport.
The Brazilian driver talked to the media and mentioned that he believes he is still competitive after 20 years in F1 at the age of 40. In addition, he stated that he wants to stay in the sport and that he is sure he will do everything to succeed if he stays.
The Grove-based outfit has not yet confirmed their 2012 drivers’ line-up. The team driver Barrichello is hopeful at the moment his team will give him one more chance of racing for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
He commented, “I remain positive and I will not say goodbye to anyone [in Brazil]. After races like I did in Abu Dhabi, I deserve to stay in Formula 1.”
Barrichello went on to mention, “I do not do it for the money, I want to do another year in F1, because I love it. I think it will still be competitive after 20 years in F1 at the of age 40, I want to stay and I will do everything to succeed.”
The 39-year-old driver further added that he is still capable to fight against his rivals if he has competitive car.
The Williams’ driver has made a lot of struggle throughout the 2011 Formula 1 season so far. Since the 2011 Monaco and Canadian Grands Prix, he has not been able to score any more points for his team.
In the Abu Dhabi race weekend, he put all of his efforts to cover the gap from the top ten drivers. After starting the race from the back of the Yas Marina Circuit, he finished at the 12th position for Williams in the final Grand Prix classifications
after running on the sets of medium and soft tyres by Pirelli.
The last round of the 2011 Formula 1 season will be held on November 27 at the Sao Paulo circuit in Brazil.
