Williams driver Rubens Barrichello’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far
Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello is still not able to close his gap from the strong teams in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Barrichello made his debut in Formula 1 in 1993 and Sasol Jordan team brought him to the mainstream. He spent six years of his F1 career with the Scuderia-Ferrari team with his teammate Michael Schumacher. He made a lot of progress during his races when
he drove for Ferrari.
The Grove-based outfit confirmed Barrichello with his teammate Nico Hulkenberg for the 2010 F1 season’s races. Since that time, he is still driving for Williams.
The Brazilian did not have a good start in the 2011 F1 season, as he retired from the first round due to having a transmission issue during the race.
The team driver started his Australian race from the 17th place on the grid and after completing 48 laps, he retired from the Grand Prix due to some technical issues.
Barrichello was again unable to finish his race on the grid in the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix following the Albert Park race. He had some hydraulic issue and due to that, he retired from the Grand Prix after completing 22 laps of the Sepang race.
The 39-year-old driver made improvements in terms of performance in the Chinese Grand Prix following his disappointing first two rounds of the ongoing season.
The Williams’ driver stayed at the Shanghai International Circuit and after struggling a lot he came at the 13th place in the final race classifications.
The Chinese race weekend’s results of Barrichello were encouraging for the team, as the driver successfully ended his race at the racetrack.
In the following Grand Prix, Barrichello was at the 15th place after starting from the 11th position on the Turkish race circuit.
The team driver was quite slow during the 2011 Spanish Grand Prix. He finished his race in the 17th spot following a disappointing qualifying round.
He impressed his team in the Monaco Grand Prix, by taking ninth place after struggling on the sets of supersoft and soft tyres by Pirelli.
After the Monte Carlo race weekend, Barrichello was quite happy with his race results, as he successfully scored points for his team following his disappointing start to the ongoing season.
The team driver was again at the ninth place in the next Canadian Grand Prix. He scored points for the second time in the ongoing season in Canada. Barrichello was 45.1 seconds off the pace of McLaren’s Jenson Button, who was the race winner. After struggling
in wet conditions, he ended up ahead of Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi, who finished his race in the tenth spot.
Barrichello dropped down his position in the 2011 European Grand Prix and put Williams in the 12th spot after running at the Valencia Street Circuit.
The Williams’ driver could not make a lot of struggle on the sets of medium and soft tyres during the 2011 British Grand Prix. After starting his Silverstone race from the 15th place on the racetrack he came at the 13th place
in the final race classifications.
The German Grand Prix proved as unlucky for him, as he retired from the race due to oil leakage issue with his FW33 car.
He tried to close his gap from the top ten teams in the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix. Barrichello finished his race at the 13th place after starting from the 15th position on the Hungaroring racetrack.
