Williams expect to attain good results in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams’ chief operations engineer, Mark Gillan has said that they are expecting to attain good results in 2012 German Grand Prix which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
Gillan said that their aim is to provide their drivers, Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna with everything which they may need to score some reasonable points in the forthcoming race. Moreover, he said that the weather conditions in Hockenheim will hopefully
support them in achieving competitive result.
“On the back of a very successful Young Driver Test event at Silverstone we head off to Hockenheim aiming to get both cars home in the points,” he said. “The weather conditions look better than those which affected Silverstone but there is still a relatively
low risk of rain each day. This is the first year that we have raced with Pirelli at Hockenheim and they bring with them their medium and soft tyres. The circuit is characterised by its high average corner speeds, high fuel consumption and high braking severity.”
It will be important to mention that Maldonado could not score even a single point in the British GP as he came 16th after setting off from 7th place in the grid. At present, he is at 10th position in the drivers’ championship
with 29 points.
Although, he was little upset over his poor performance in the preceding race, however, he said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the season ahead.
On the other hand, Senna scored 2 points in Silverstone as he secured 9th place finish after taking a start from 13th grid position. Furthermore, he said that he is feeling very comfortable behind the wheel of his car and is aiming
to come up stronger in the upcoming race.
In addition, he said that the track of the approaching race is very challenging. Nevertheless, he hoped that the weather conditions will be in their favour.
The British team is presently standing at 7th place in the constructors’ championship with 47 points. Additionally, they are 13 points behind Sauber and 3 points ahead of Force India. Let’s see how they show up in the races ahead.
