Williams explain cause of Bruno Senna’s retirement in 2012 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams have explained that Bruno Senna’s retirement in the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix which was held at Marina Bay Street Circuit was not caused by any issue related to KERS.
Senna struggled with his qualifying pace in the preceding race as he failed to make his way into the second session and could only secure 22nd grid slot.
Although, he performed quite convincingly on the race day and was trying to attain some points but unfortunately he had to retire during the final lap because of some technical problem which seemed quite serious as he got some burn marks at the back.
"Jump out with both feet from the cockpit. Under no circumstances touch the ground and the car at the same time," Senna’s race engineer said.
Even though, it appeared that the Brazilian driver had faced some problem in the KERS but the Grove based team has recently clarified that there was nothing wrong with the system and their driver is all right too.
"To confirm, Bruno's burns were due to a wiring loom seal coming loose in the seat allowing heat from back of car to escape - not KERS related," Williams said. "Bruno is here with us today and I can confirm he is 100% fine!"
In addition, the 28-year-old also confirmed that the burns on his back were not serious and he has almost recovered from the unpleasant incident. He also said that he is presently working with his team so as to make some essential preparations for the forthcoming
races in order to make his mark stronger in this year’s championship fight.
"Hey everyone. The burns on my back weren't serious and are pretty much healed. Today I'm at Williams F1 for some simulator work," Senna said.
At present, he is standing at 16th place in the drivers’ championship with 25 points. Besides, he is ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso who was retired in the previous race after his collision with Mercedes driver, Michael Schumacher. Additionally,
he is behind his teammate, Pastor Maldonado who also faced retirement in the last race because of a hydraulic problem.
