Williams extend technical collaboration with Hispania Racing Team for 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Williams have extended their technical collaboration with the Hispania Racing Team for gearboxes into 2012 and this time around KERS and other related technology will also form a part of this deal.
This was confirmed by the Hispania Racing team on Thursday, November 3, 2011.
The Grove-based team had inked a partnership with the Spanish squad last year in 2010 providing the latter gearboxes as part of the technical collaboration. The linkage has proved really helpful for HRT in terms of technological upgradation and development
of the team’s car. HRT’s performance over the last two years has seen a marked improvement and the Spanish team’s boss is confident that with the strengthening of ties between the two squads, his team’s performance will definitely improve.
Hispania Racing Team boss Colin Kolles reckons the extension of the technical partnership with Williams will help the team boost its performance in the next season and is really delighted that such a step has been initiated.
Commenting on their past performance under Williams partnership he said, “We have grown as a team with Williams F1's support and we are pleased to continue counting on them in the future, given their trajectory, prestige and renowned experience in Formula
1. This agreement strengthens the development of the 2012 car that is currently taking place at our technical office in Munich.”
Right now, HRT’s main focus is to improve on its next year’s car and stringent development work for which has already been started at the factory. Their target for next year is to see the Spanish squad in the top ten places on the constructors’ standings.
With the signing of this new deal with Williams, Kolles is optimistic that his team has a bright future and he can foresee a lot of great things happening for the team in the near future.
The CEO of Williams has also endorsed Kolles views and said, “I am delighted that we are extending our agreement with HRT, in both its scope and duration. We have enjoyed a good working relationship with HRT in 2011 and look forward to continuing this in
2012 and beyond.”
