Williams face problem in deciding their 2013 driver line-up – Formula 1 news
Williams’ executive director Toto Wolff has said that they are facing problem in deciding their driver line-up for 2013 Formula 1 season.
The Grove based team has performed reasonably well in the first eleven grands prix with their pair of drivers, Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna. Moreover, they are looking forward to come up even stronger in the next season but have not yet been able to
decide about their drivers in the coming year.
It has been reported that they have been assessing the performance of their reserve driver, Valtteri Bottas in the season so far and are considering replacing him with Senna in the next season.
Even though, the Finnish driver has shown some amazing pace in some of the free Friday practice sessions and has delivered an impressive performance in the Young Driver Test which was held at Silverstone Circuit. Conversely, Wolff insisted that the Finn
needs to practice more as racing is completely different from test running.
“Valtteri has been doing free practice but racing is something completely different,” Wolff said.
Nevertheless, he said that Bottas has got a tremendous talent and they earnestly want to keep him in the team for the upcoming season.
“He is a great talent and we want to keep him, but there is also an economic side,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that they are quite uncertain about which driver to keep in the next season as they think all the three options are worth to be considered.
“I would rather have three cars next year,” he smiled.
However, it will be important to mention that he showed his inclination towards the Brazilian driver who showed an inspiring pace in the Hungarian GP.
“I am impressed with Bruno,” he said. “He is not only an intelligent and sensitive driver, he also learns quickly. Our concern is to support him in the best way possible, knowing that he has lacked some practice on the Fridays. He has had good moments and
days when things have not worked, but in Hungary everything worked very well.”
Above and beyond, let’s see with which drivers the British team races in the coming season.
