Williams feel disappointed after 2012 Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams’ chief operations engineer, Mark Gillan has said that the 2012 Korean Grand Prix was the most disappointing race for them in the season so far as they could not score even a single point.
Pastor Maldonado of the Grove based team struggled during the qualifying at Korea International Circuit and failed to make his way into last session. Later on, he could not make any progress in the race and remained unable to score even a single point as
he came 14th. On the other hand, his teammate, Bruno Senna also could not score any points for his team and came 15th in the charts.
Gillan said that they are feeling very upset over their result in the preceding race and said that although they had a good start but they could not attain the desired result as they lacked pace as compared to their rivals.
“Probably our most disappointing race of the season in that both cars had decent race starts and had no contact issues during the race but we were clearly too far off the pace to challenge for points,” said Gillan.
In addition, he said that they have found out the problems which hindered the performance of their drivers in the last race and are now looking forward to resolve the underlying issues so as to come up stronger in the remainder of the season.
“We do understand why we struggled and need to address the balance consistency problem that hampered the drivers' performance,” he added.
He also said, “[Williams] will be developing the FW34 until the last race whilst also balancing the development needs for both the FW35 and the all-new FW36.”
It will be important to mention that Williams have not finalised their 2013 driver line-up until now and their executive director, Toto Wolff has recently said that they are considering many options for it.
Furthermore, Wolff said that they may replace Maldonado or Senna with their reserve driver, Valtteri Bottas who has delivered an amazing performance in the Young Driver Test. Besides, the Finn has also replaced the Brazilian driver in many free practice
sessions in the season until now.
Let’s see how the British team performs in the remainder of the season and who joins their squad in the coming year.
