Williams feel satisfied with their developments in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ team owner, Sir Frank Williams has said that they are satisfied with the progress which they made in the 2012 Formula 1 season as compared to the last year.
The Grove based team came up with some considerable improvements in its car in this year after facing immense problems during the previous season. Moreover, they stood amongst one of the most competitive midfield contenders in this year’s championship fight.
Even though, they had quite a competent car in the field, but their drivers, Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna could not take the most out of it during the season and failed to attain promising results for the team.
Nonetheless, Maldonado showed an incredible pace in the Spanish Grand Prix and scored his maiden win after claiming his first ever pole position.
Furthermore, he became the first ever Venezuelan driver who won a race in F1 and successfully brought Williams some moments to cherish for which they were was longing for since 2004. However, he could not perform with consistency in this season and wasn’t able to achieve more for his team.
Nevertheless, Williams has said that they have worked very hard to keep on making the essential developments in their car and are pleased to see improvement in its pace during the season.
Besides, he said that after securing pole position and one race victory this year, they are feeling confident about their development strategy and are looking forward to come up even stronger in the next season.
“The FW34 was a strong car and on the whole we feel that we should have done better with the equipment we had. Our long run pace was consistently strong and whilst we need to improve on our qualifying pace, at certain tracks we did manage to give the top teams a run for their money over a single lap. Of course the win in Spain was memorable and showed that we can produce race winning cars. The rate of progression we have shown over 2011 has been very encouraging,” Williams said.
Let’s see how the British squad shows up in the coming year.
