Williams not overconfident of their chances for Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams are not getting too far ahead of itself and are keeping calm about their chances at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Williams ended an eight-year drought when Pastor Maldonado drove his team to a Grand Prix victory at the Spanish GP.
Maldonado showed skill and strong nerves as he kept Fernando Alonso in a much-improved Ferrari and a strong Lotus car driven by Kimi Raikkonen at bay and never let them any chances of getting ahead.
The showing has been celebrated by the team although short live due to the tragic fire accident that put an abrupt stop to the teams victory party. Williams has managed to come out of the accident ready for the Monaco challenge are not too worried  about
their chances of recording another win.
Maldonado has had a good track record of the Monaco track and that will definitely be a boost to his booming confidence at the moment. The Monaco circuit is not an easy track yet exciting and it will take skill and experience to be successful.
Williams board member Toto Wolff believes that the team while not being over confident have a positive approach to the weekend and are ready for any type of result.
“Pastor has won in every category he raced in and also Bruno [Senna] won in GP2, so we are very much looking forward to Monaco,” Wolff told AUTOSPORT. “But I think we should not set our expectations too high at this stage, because I think if you do that
then you find out that at the track where you expected to be the most competitive, you are not.”
“So, let's not guess – instead let's see what happens there on Thursday and Saturday. But I am very much looking forward to going there,” he added.
Wolff admitted that the Spanish GP win was a bit of a miracle and that it was well deserved for the team. He will definitely be hoping for another miracle at Monaco. It would not have been talked about if the team had not won at the Spanish GP but now Williams
has a chance like any other team to show that they can fight with the best once again.
