Williams’ shareholder Toto Wolff expects teal to bounce back: Formila 1 News
Williams’ shareholder Toto Wolff believes that his team will overcome its issues and bounce back strongly in the Formula 1, 2011 season. The team has been unable to score a single point in the opening three races of the season until now. This is the worst
start to a Formula 1 season by Williams in its history.
Wolff stated, “Our ingredients seem right, but somehow it doesn't seem to translate into performance. Whether it is communication or something else I don't know yet - and if someone would know then our performance would be better.”
He further added, “It is all about timing. We looked good in testing, and we were not being aggressive with the fuel loads as we were rather on the conservative side. But I am optimistic that we will get back to the performance that the team deserves to
have. I can see in the faces that everyone is working hard.”
Wolff claimed that all the other teams have made significant improvement since the winter testing and has paid off for them. However, he admitted that Williams was unable to raise their level of performance, when the season officially kicked off.
The Austrian didn’t blame anyone in the team for the lack-lustre performance until now, saying that it was not the time to do so. He said that everybody in the team was eager to deliver in the race and score as much points as possible.
Williams will be bringing some upgrades for the Turkish Grand Prix, which will take place on Sunday, May 8, 2011. The team was upbeat about overcoming all the issues faced by drivers Rubens Barrichello and Pastor Maldonado.
The British team managed to secure sixth position in the previous season and there was a lot of improvement towards the end of 2010. One of the highlights of the previous season for Williams was a pole position by rookie driver Nico Hulkenberg in the Brazilian
GP.
The young German stunned one and all with his brilliant show in the qualifiers, but was unable to impress during race day. He was helped by damp conditions, but his car didn’t have the pace to match the front-runners in the race.
