Why do they have to play each other (women's final) and then later that day ... play doubles together in the finals of doubles? That is a lot of top end tennis for one day....why can't they play on sunday with the men's final?

  1. Who knows how the organizers schedule?  I'm still quite baffled by the court assignments.  (Both Williams sisters on Court 2, and Jankovic on Court 18!)

  2. The reason is that Sunday is THE EVENT and day of the whole tournament.  The men's game has been the focus and interest with huge fanfare during this year's Wimbledon.  It's a showcase of two great players, personalities, class and unique tennis that is ideal for fans and viewers to watch.  And what a way to end it a big finale as another chapter in not only the Wimbledon rivalry between the gentlemen from Switzerland and Spain, but their historic career rivalry as well.  Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.  The day, Sunday, is for them and for the fans and viewers.

  3. Usually, ladies doubles final is played on Sunday, but this year due to huge rain forecast on Sunday, the ladies doubles final has been preponed to Saturday.

    There have been talks that the mens final would be moved to Monday because of heavy rain expected on Sunday

  4. It is just the way it is.

    The Wimbledon staff didn't think that they would be playing in both events like that. When they make a schedule they keep it like that;

    :D
