Williams take positives from a tough weekend in Canada – Formula 1 News
Williams’ deputy team principal, Claire Williams, has said that their performance in the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix has been a morale booster for them despite being unable to score any points.
Valtteri Bottas of the Grove based team delivered an amazing qualifying performance at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal and secured his career-best third grid slot for the race. However, he failed to match the pace of his
rivals in the race and remained unable to pocket any points as he dropped to 14th position in the end. On the other hand, his teammate, Pastor Maldonado came 16th in the race after taking a start from 13th grid position.
However, Williams has asserted that they are not feeling disappointed over their results in the preceding race and are contented with the progress which they have made. Besides, she said that she is very happy to see everyone working
so hard to make the necessary developments in their car to attain good points in the season ahead.
“It has been a really good boost for morale. Really it has,” she told AUTOSPORT. “And I think that is really important when you work so hard and your team works so hard.”
“You need those reminders of why you are doing it, so that was really good,” she said.
Besides, she said that no one expected that they could secure a podium finish in the previous race, but still it would be nice to score some points.
“No one had any expectations that we were going to finish on the podium, but to finish in the points would have been good. But the car eats its tyres really quickly and then there are other issues that came together to make us
finish where we finished,” she added.
Furthermore, she said that although they have not been able to attain desired results in the season until now. However, she insisted that they are quite satisfied as they have made some good progress.
It will be interesting to see how the British squad perform in the British GP and whether they will be able to score any points or not.
