Williams’ test driver Valtteri Bottas keeps his options open for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ test driver Valtteri Bottas has said that he is keeping his options open for the 2013 while he said that it is too early to express anything concerning his future prospects.
Bottas has been the reserve driver of the Grove based team for the last couple of years and has tremendously gathered some essential data during the free Friday practice sessions in order to make the necessary evaluations about the car’s updates.
Furthermore, he was assessed during the Young Driver Test which was held at Silverstone Circuit for a race seat in Williams for the next season. However, it is not confirmed that he will be able to race in F1 in the next year as they may keep their drivers,
Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna.
Meanwhile, he said that he is unsure about his prospects in the future as he believes that it is very early to make any kind of projections.
“It's difficult to say about my chances, I really don't know. I think it's too early to speak about it. We're only halfway through season and there's plenty of time for teams to decide,” said Bottas.
Nevertheless, he said that he is not limiting his options and is looking forward to opportunities in GP2 or Renault World Series as he thinks that there is a tough competition in these two championships.
“I think there are only two options for my situation and that would be GP2 or Renault World Series. I think those are two most competitive championships and they're also quite quick cars,” he said.
Over and above, he said that if he will not be able to make his way into F1 in the season ahead, he will not get upset over it and will try to carry on his career in the sport.
“I think doing GP2, you are not allowed to do Fridays so that is one reason why we didn't do it this year. World Series is definitely a good option,” he said.
Let’s see whether the Finnish driver appear in the grid of next season with the British team or not.
