The young man at the door told us they would not seat us because my husband's shirt was "cut-off". The shirt was brand new from Harley Davidson, the sleeves were completed hemmed, no holes and not dirty. I pointed out the young man that it was in fact seamed and he asked us to leave and said they would not serve us.

  1. Restaurants reserve the right to refuse service. It probably had a dress-code that included sleeves.

  2. Yes, it is legal.  Any establishment can have their own dress code.

    .

  3. Unfortunately, it sounds like you were trying to enter a facility with a dress code.  As your husband may have been dressed normal to you, they may have dress codes they have to enforce.  I am sorry to hear that (And will check them off my list of places to go!)

  4. Would you rather they seat you and spit in your food?  Be grateful they turned you away.  Now you know not to go back there.

  5. They can have a dress code. Some places require shirt and tie. They also have the right to refuse to serve anyone.although its not a good practice...Does your newspaper offer a SPOUT OFF section?for you to write a comment about it so others and can read and not go there?

I would write editorial and spout off comment ...my experience is with that most people will get pissed off and no one goes then they have to shut their doors.

The name states PUB...who would've thought you had to dress up there...

I do believe that it has to be posted so you know..?!!was it?

Make sure you tell everyone so that they have no customers is my motto!!!

  6. Most restaurants post a sign saying they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone .....

  7. For Restaurants/Bars the rule is NOT "The Customer is always right".

The Rule is "Management reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason."

So, technically, although I personally disagree with their reasoning, they are not doing anything illegal by refusing service to ya'll.

The only people I've ever turned down are people that are clearly too intoxicated or they smell like vomit/S**t/pee.
