Willie Gunn tipped to win Stradey Park Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race
Willie Gunn is expected to win the Stradey Park Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Ffos Las in England on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. The winner of the class-6 event will be awarded a cash prize of £1,365.
The going will be good and the race is scheduled to start at 17:45 GMT. The stamina of all runners will be put to a test, as they will have to cover an overall distance of 2 miles.
A total of six runners have lined up for action in the event and their names are as follows: Willie Gunn, Your Tepee Or Mine, Mumbles Bay, Royale Performance, Azure Fly and Theroadtogorey.
The bookies have given the best odds to Willie Gunn, as he has a very good record compared to his rivals in the race. Most of the participants in this race are inexperienced, which means that the punters will have to choose their favourite very carefully.
The four-year-old gelding has taken part in just one race until now and his performance in it was quite impressive. He managed to finish runner up in that race by just under a couple of lengths. He was not rated as favourite back then, but did an excellent
job, surprising one and all.
A similar run would definitely put Willie Gunn in contention for victory, as his opponents are not experienced at this level. He will be partnered by one of the best jockeys in the business, A. P. McCoy. The veteran rider simply needs no introduction
at all, as he has proved his worth to everyone. He will be looking forward to another splendid show at Ffos Las today.
On the other hand, Your Tepee Or Mine will also be the one to watch out for in the race, as he seems to be in very good shape. He has not taken part in any event until now, thus the punters might be hesitant to risk money on him.
However, the six-year-old gelding will be partnered by seasoned jockey, Andrew Tinkler, who has got a decent record at this level and might manage to make a solid impression in the race.
