Willie Mason missing National Rugby League
According to rumours in the news, Former Kangaroos forward, Willie Mason, is all set to return to National Rugby League (NRL) after bidding farewell to rugby union's French side, Toulon. This emerged after the 31-year-old exchanged suggestive tweets on Twitter.
The rugby league veteran had played with Canterbury Bulldogs, Sydney Roosters, North Queensland before he moved to Hull KR in 2011. His most elaborate stint so far had been with Bulldogs, which wrapped up in 2007. He played a total of 148 games with the
Bulldogs and earned 144 points through 36 tries. Overall, the second rower boasts a brilliant league record with 218 games t his credit that earned him an aggregate of 184 points.
Apart from this, Mason also had the honour of representing Tonga, Australia, Country Origin and New South Wales. His years of experience in the world of rugby league pushed him to test his skills in the alternate code of rugby too, which is why Mason ventured
in the rugby union French club, Toulon, in 2011.
Mason’s time in NRL brought the best of him. Amongst many feats to his credit, the player bagged the Clive Churchill Medal with the Bulldogs in 2004 in their premiership win. When he left rugby league to test his luck in the alternate code, he seemed happy
with his decision. However, now it seems that the case is not so because the player was spotted on Twitter exchanging messages, suggesting that he is eager to make his way back to league games.
Twitter caught the player tweeting in response to one of his rugby league fans’ tweets, who were missing their league ace and wished he could conclude his controversial derby career with league instead of the alternate code. In response to one such similar
plea from rugby league fan, Mason tweeted back and expressed his desire to make his comeback to the NRL, which was sent to Shaun Berrigan, the lastest Canberra recruit.
Mason’s tweet said, “Just chilling in France... I miss the NRL... hope your well.”
This notion was cemented further when Mason was found amiss from Toulon’s recent games of 2011, it has been felt that the rugby union prop is not going to settle down in the recently embraced code of rugby. The news in circulation is coming off as more of
a shock for the Sharks captain Paul Gallen, who recently spoke the union prop during his England tour.
It will be interesting to see what Mason’s final take on the news in circulation regarding his return to the world of rugby league will be. The decision may or may not end according to his desires but through his tweets one thing can be ascertained that
the rugby union prop is definitely missing league games.
