Willie Mullins cuts more runners from Grand National
Trainer Willie Mullins has cut short another runner from the entry list of the John Smith's Grand National, which is scheduled to take place at Aintree in England on Saturday, April 6, 2013.
He had dropped Lambro and Shakervilz earlier from the event, but now decided to cut Call The Police too. His focus will now be shifted completely towards Prince De Beauchene and On His Own, who are capable of fighting for the top spot in the all important
contest.
The latter of the two will definitely get the attention of everyone, as he has been delivering some terrific performances over the years. He is not much young, but that doesn’t make a difference as long as he is capable of challenging the best in the business
at the highest level.
On His Own has participated in a total of 11 races until now, winning five of them, which clearly shows that he can be a tough nut to crack. However, he has never finished as a runner up or in third place, which shows that he can be a touch unpredictable.
Despite that, his team will not be worried much, as he knows how to win races and has been in decent form recently.
On the other hand, Prince De Beauchene has got a lot more experience and his performances have also been quite decent. He has managed to succeed in eight contests out of 20 outings. Moreover, he has finished as a runner up thrice and secured the third spot
on four times.
Mullins’ challengers will be given a tough time by Kim Bailey’s trainee, The Rainbow Hunter, who is in quite good rhythm right now.
His trainer stated, “He came out of his run at Ascot very well and I think he will improve for that. He wants good ground - it was very gluey at Ascot. He found it hard to jump out of that ground because he is not very big and finds it quite difficult. He
will go on soft but not when the going is like that.”
He added, “He seems to stay well and his size wouldn't concern me around Aintree because I ran Docklands Express around there and he was smaller. It all depends on how they jump.”
