Willie Nelson: Yudel Jhonson has fought many men but has never taken on a man like me – Boxing News
Willie Nelson, the surging young American pugilist, recently shared his thoughts about the upcoming engagement with Yudel Jhonson and commented that he respects his opponent but at the same time will strive hard to collect a high profile win adding that
Yudel has never fought a man like me.
The duo is scheduled to headline Showbox’s weekly boxing show ShoBox: The New Generation and the pay-per-view is being dubbed as ‘Shootout at Texas Station’. The event will be organised and promoted by Warriors Boxing and the ring for the event will be set
up at Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
The Friday night showdown will be co-headlined by the non-title eight-round between Badou Jack and Alexander Brand. Willie, 25, has been in a total 19 bouts and emerged victorious in 17. He has nailed 11 of his opponents by knockout and is coming from an
impressive technical knockout win over Brad Jackson.
He recently collected his careers only loss to Vincent Arroyo which was a pretty close one. Nelson shared his sheer excitement during the media interaction and when asked as to how he feels about his Cuban opponent, the southpaw stated, “He comes from a
great line of Cuban fighters, and like me, he had an extensive and successful amateur career. As a pro, he has had only 12 fights and none against anyone that can do the things I can do. I respect Yudel, but I look forward to beating him.”
His opponent, Yudel, 30, is seriously outclassed by Willie when it comes to experience and stats. Jhonson has been in a total 12 bouts and emerged victorious in all. He has never lost even a single bout and boasts eight of his total wins by knocking the
opponent out cold.
In his short but intimidating career, Yudel has even grabbed WBC FECARBOX light middleweight title unlike Nelson who despite being in 19 bouts has not entered even once in a title bout.
In addition, Yudel’s lethalness to some extent can be determined by the fact that he has collected wins over names such as Jose Miguel Torres and Richard Gutierrez and is coming from an impressive technical knockout win over Eduardo Mercedes.
The bout will definitely be a tooth-and-nail one and both men will give a serious tough time to each other as both are southpaw and are talented pugilists with decent ability to knock the other one out.
