Willie The Whipper after Hamilton set to conquer Ayr in British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Novice Stakes
Thursday’s British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Novice Stakes at Ayr is an interesting novice event, which includes three unbeaten juveniles and Sir Mark Prescott Bt’s extremely consistent Oasis Canne.
The 2-year-old recently travelled nicely in a French Listed event, and looks to be in great form. He certainly deserves respect, but could prove a tad vulnerable conceding weight all around.
Unsinkable is another fascinating entry. The Richard Fahey-trained is the only runner in the field with a Pattern entry, and has to be feared. The bettors cannot afford to rule out his chances despite the fact that he is showing up after a two-month absence.
Including the aforementioned pair, there are a few very powerful and talented runners in the line-up. Nonetheless, our vote goes to Willie The Whipper, who was an impressive 8-length winner of newcomers race at Hamilton lately.
Ann Duffield’s charge looked well-equipped on his debut at the end of last month. The conditions were quite testing at Hamilton, but the debutant faced no problem whatsoever.
In the hands of Graham Lee, he was tracking the leader soon after the start of British Stallion Studs E B F Debutants Maiden Stakes. He shifted his gears a furlong before the wire, and managed to get a decent lead.
After getting his head in front, he kept on strongly to go clear inside the final furlong. Willie The Whipper’s three opponents were completely clueless, as he bagged the prize with ease.
After showing a strong performance, the son of Whipper has gained a lot of attention. A comprehensive victory right at the start of career was a massive confidence booster for the novice, who is expected to carry on in the similar fashion today.
Owned by Jimmy Kay, the bay colt is due to face four horses in today’s 1-mile meeting. The class 4 contest carries a cash prize of £5,369, and will be started off at 15:10 GMT.
Both Oasis Canne and Unsinkable are two hard nuts to crack. But Willie The Whipper surely has the required hammer to do the trick. Good luck to all the horses.
