its near the butter in the super market, but cheaper and spreads easier?

so if its not butter, what is it??

I always thought it was a butter type spread which will be butter mixed with vegetable oil to make it more spreadable however it could be butter but they tend to be really hard from the fridge....I'd think it's a spread.
