Who is the biggest female role in The play. I hear Matilda is, but I'm not sure.

At my school, the biggest female role was for Veruca.  But if you were to audition, my opinion that the more influential character would be Violet.  Next, the character order in order of majority would be Mrs. Gloop, Mrs. Bucket, Mrs. TV, Grandmothers (Grandma Josefina/Grandma Georgina) and Oompa Loompas.  The rest of the roles and Matilda are very minor.

If you are talking of the musical I am thinking of which is the version that starred Gene Wilder in the movie version, I would say that either Violet or Verruca are probably the largest female roles, followed by Mrs Gloop, and then probably Mrs Bucket and the Grandmothers.

I don't know of a character named Matilda in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
