Wilshere escapes prosecution for Twitter comments
Arsenal midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international had come under fire after he blasted Dowd for ‘inconsistent refereeing’.
Wilshere was furious at the match official for the way in which he handled the Barclays Premier League encounter between Arsenal and Newcastle on Saturday, 5 February. The Gunners had established an early four goal lead in that match before http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Abou-Diaby-c3453 was
shown a straight red card by referee Phil Dowd just after half time.
Diaby’s dismissal proved to be the catalyst for Newcastle’s amazing comeback, with the Magpies going on to level the scores at 4-4.
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was less than impressed with referee Phil Dowd’s decisions on the night. The official had also awarded Newcastle two penalties in that draw, leaving Wilshere questioning Dowd’s integrity.
In a post on his Twitter page, Wilshere wrote, “Inconsistent refereeing needs to stop (referring to Phil Dowd’s handling of Saturday’s match). It's killing the game. If (Abou) Diaby goes, what's the difference between that and (Kevin) Nolan on our keeper
(http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998)?"
The post was later deleted by Wilshere.
The FA has taken note of the England international’s comments, but the governing body will not be pursuing the matter any further.
Liverpool’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Babel-c31971 had earlier been charged by the FA for his remarks against referee Howard Webb. The midfielder had accused the official of siding with Manchester United. Babel was fined 10,000 pounds for his inappropriate comments, but it seems that
Wilshere will get away with his mini-rant against Phil Dowd.
Despite that draw against Newcastle, Arsenal currently lie in second place in the Barclays Premier League. Leaders Manchester United also slipped up over the weekend, losing 2-1 to strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Gunners have a real chance of ending their long standing trophy drought this season, and they still find themselves in a great position to go and win the Premier League as well. Let’s see whether they can keep up the pressure on United when they take
on the giant-killing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 on 12 February.
