Wilson Palacios to Stoke City, as Tottenham Hotspur look to complete Scott Parker move
Wilson Palacios, the 27-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, is close to a move to English Premier League side Stoke City. The Spurs manager Harry Redknapp confirmed that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Honduras-c2918 international was indeed close to a switch after the disappointing 5-1
defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“Wilson Palacios is having a medical at Stoke.”
The two sides have reportedly reached an agreement worth £6 million, which will see Palacios join Stoke City on a long-term deal. Along with the midfielder, Tottenham Hotspur striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741 has also been linked with a White Hart Lane exit. However,
Redknapp denied the England international leaving the club in the current transfer window.
The English manager denied any knowledge of a possible deal linking the 30-year-old with a move to the Britannia Stadium. He felt the speculation had made it very difficult for the striker to focus, which was partially why the side had failed to perform
over the weekend. Redknapp insisted the striker was to remain with the London side.
He said:
“I don't know what the latest situation is with Crouchy.
People say we want to sell Crouch to Stoke and it's in the papers every day. Crouchy has to play under that. It's very difficult.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing West Ham United midfielder Scott Parker as a possible signing. The 30-year-old has been looking for a move away after the Hammers were relegated at the end of last season. However, despite being linked to
a host of sides, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international failed to secure a move to a Premier League side.
According to West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce, the 30-year-old midfielder was just a few hours away from completing his move away. He revealed this was the reason why he was choosing not to play Parker, since he was obviously distracted by the negotiations
and the speculation. Allardyce confirmed the deal was set to be concluded soon.
Allardyce said in an interview:
“There are some negotiations going on and I don't think he would be mentally right to play.
It will come to fruition in the next 24 hours or so.”
Tottenham Hotspur are known to be in the market for a midfielder after rumours linking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. The 25-year-old Croatian midfielder has made his intentions to leave very clear and the Blues are expected to make a fourth bid, after
their initial three bids were rejected by the Spurs chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy.
