Wimbeldon 2010 Quarterfinal: Rafael Nadal vs. Robin Soderling

While wishing for yet another grass court Grand Slam encounter with the tennis master, Roger Federer over a period of about one and a half years, the second seeded Rafael Nadal has created a well developed competition with Robin Soderling.

The Spaniard tennis ace will meet the Swede star in the quarterfinal match of the ongoing grass court Grand Slam tournament today at the All England Club. It would be their third clash in a Grand Slam event since 2009.

Soderling stunned Rafa in the previous year during the round number four of the French Open tournament which is still his only loss in that championship. Nadal however, made up for his defeat by winning this season’s Roland Garros final match.

Nadal however believes that the Swedish tennis ace is going to be a far stronger competitor here on grass courts at the All England Club.

Perhaps, he is one of the toughest challengers that you find on all courts but more particularly here, said the Spanish number one tennis star. The ball on the grass courts here moves even quicker as compared to the clay courts and so it would be a tough challenge to control his game more particularly from the baseline.

Nadal while commenting on today’s quarterfinal match said, that “It’s a very important match for me and I will put all my efforts to rise on the most needed occasion of the tournament”.

Undoubtedly, the right handed Swede will also try his level best to play world class tennis.

As far as the men’s side is concerned, the top four seeded players have made their way into the last eight. Apart from the clash of second seeded Nadal and sixth seeded Soderling, other encounters include the Big man Roger Federer who will face the twelve seeded Tomas Berdych, Novak Djokovic, the third seeded player will meet the Taiwan un-seeded player Yen-hsun Lu and fourth seeded Brit, Murray will put up a fight against the number ten player, Wilfried Tsonga.

Nadal versus Federer stays a tormenting probability for the Sunday’s final. Rafael Nadal, the second seeded player has managed to triumph in all of their last final meetings in a Grand Slam tournament including the Wimbledon trophy back in 2008. However, both the top seeded players did not face each other in a big championship since the last year’s Australian Open tournament.

Soderling on the other hand has been a runner up for the last two years at French Open tournament. However, he did manage to defeat the big man Roger Federer this season and has now made his way into the quarterfinal of the Wimbledon 2010 at the All England Club for the very first time.

Soderling since his childhood was fond of tennis and used to enjoy watching especially the major tennis tournaments and so is highly motivated to win this year’s Wimbledon as his first ever title at the All England Club.

Another potential tennis ace fighting hard at Wimbledon this year is the only Brit who managed to survive as compared to his compatriots and is putting a lot of extra effort in order to write his name in the history by winning a Wimbledon title this season. In spite of the fact, that the entire nation is looking towards him, he has still managed to handle the pressure pretty well so far in the grass court Grand Slam Tournament and has not lost a single set.

According to Murray, the advantage of being contesting at the home court is far more superior to the so called pressure and he seems to enjoy the crowd who supports and backs him up in every single match of this tournament so far.

“My style of game has in fact improved and I now feel even more confident than ever before”, says Andy Murray.

So the question is, in the presence of so many tough competitors, who is finally going to take the Wimbledon trophy back home?
