Wimbeldon 2010: Tomas Berdych a rising tennis ace from Czech Republic
The professional tennis player from Czech Republic, Tomas Berdych was born on 17th September 1985 in the city of Czechoslovakia. The twenty-four year old Berdych was fond of the game of tennis since childhood. Apart from studies, Tomas Berdych used to spend a lot of time practising on the tennis court.
The right-handed Tomas turned pro back in 2002. He triumphed in both of the future series in Czech Republic. First, in the Czech F8 by defeating Pavel Snobel 6-2, 6-3, in the final, then in the Czech F5, he beat Ladislav Chramosta 6-4, 6-3.
Berdych in 2003 triumphed in three championships. He also made his way into the final match of the Great Britain F1 but fell to Wesley Moodie 6–7(5), 6–7(5). Moreover, he also succeeded in reaching six other semi finals. He triumphed in his very first match of the ATP Tour back in 2003 at the United States Open Championship against Tomas Behrend, 5–7, 6–3, 6–2, 6–3. But he was knocked down by Juan Ignacio Chela in the very next round of the tournament 6–2, 1–6, 4–6, 3–6.
Tomas then participated in the Summer Olympics and triumphed in the first round, defeating Florian Mayer in a 6-3,7-5 match set. The young player also succeeded in producing a major upset, beating Roger Federer, the top ranked tennis player in a 4–6, 7–5, 7–5 match, regardless of having just a total of five ATP Tour successes to his name. He also knocked down Tommy Robredo in the next round 7–6(2), 4–6, 8–6 but was defeated in the quarterfinal match by Taylor Dent in a 4–6, 1–6 match.
Moving on the same lines of success, Tomas Berdych had a good run at the United States Open in 2004 and managed to reach the fourth round with wins over’s Tuomas Ketola 6–3, 7–6(1), 6–3 as well as Jonas Bjorkman 6–3, 2–6, 6–2, 1–6, 6–3, before losing to Tommy Haas 6–7(6), 1–6, 5–7.
Tomas grabbed his first ever title in Palermo knocking down David Ferrer in the semi final encounter 7–5, 6–4 and later Filippo Volandri in the finals, 6–3, 6–3.

Most recently, Tomas defeated Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon 2010 semi final 6-3, 7-6(11-9), 6-3 and reached the final of a Grand Slam event for the very first time in his career. Setting up an encounter against the second seeded Nadal. His fans are hoping for another major match winning performance in the final by their star tennis athlete, Tomas Berdych.
