Wimbledon 2010: Andy Roddick to meet Federer in the Semi final
At some instances, Andy Roddick in his round number three match at Wimbledon was close to losing his focus easily off the match due to annoyance.
“The crowd did see such moments in the past, but it is not the case anymore” said Larry Stefanki, his coach. The fifth seeded Roddick lost the second set against his clash with the German Philipp Kohlschreiber however swiftly recovered on Friday ending with 28 aces and thus confirming his way into the second week of Wimbledon. The American won the game with a 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-3 match set.
Roddick has not commented on a single occasion about the tournament. Rather the performance of the American tennis ace speaks for him, while he is just focusing on his game.
The American tennis star reached to love-40 points on Kohlschreiber's serve during the second set of the match. However, he wasted away all those points including the tiebreaker points as well. Yet the 27 years old American did not let that trouble him and he straight away started off the third set with the same confidence and believe.
During the start of the third set, Roddick once again skipped a forehand wide, a spontaneous slip he encountered with a grumble. But that was the end of it. Sooner, he fixed it without falling down for a moment and snatched next fifteen points straight away. After some time, Roddick on his very first match score attempted to access the volley by running forward but bared the shot. Just after a period of five minutes, he lost another match point by skipping a backhand. However, Roddick did not kick back and ultimately finished things off on the third match point with his 137 mph ace.
Andy Roddick is seen performing extremely well over the last few years without letting the low points of the match distracting his game in any way. He has always kept his focus high on the match which is one of the biggest qualities of a great player. They do not allow it to trouble them to a stage where it actually controls their game.
According to Stefanki it is very important for a player to come out of his weaknesses and focus on the future, rather than sticking to the past. The American tennis ace, Andy Roddick has successfully done it by tactfully dealing with his feelings during the final match of Wimbledon last year versus the court master, Roger Federer. He almost got a lead of 2-0 in sets, finished up chasing 2-1 instead, then pushed a fifth set prior falling down with 16-14 in the end.
According to Stefanki, Roddick took a big decision last season against Roger Federer and now has learned the truth that as long as the match is on, there is always a possibility of snatching the victory with some good exhibit of tennis. His match against Federer last year has groomed him as a player who is not fearful of any opponent now.
Looking forward to his Wimbledon title for the first time, the 27 years old Andy Roddick has previously fallen down on three occasions at the grass court Wimbledon final to the big man Roger Federer. The exciting news is that they are on their way to face each other once again in the semi finals of the Wimbledon 2010.
Federer after his tough clashes in the first as well as the second round matches, was back to his normal game on Friday, defeating Arnaud Clement who is a runner up of the Australian Open championship back to 2001, in a 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 match set. And now the danger man who is seeded Number One at Wimbledon is surely back on track.
So, the question is can the American tennis ace, Andy Roddick still make it happen this time against the tennis master Federer?
