Wimbledon 2010 Nicolas Mahut and Isner set a world record for the longest Tennis match

Nicolas Mahut and John Isner set up a history at Wimbledon for the lengthiest ever match on the grass court yesterday. The interesting fact is that when the players left the grass court Number 18 at Wimbledon, the match was yet not over. The seated umpire due to light problems put off the match after a time period of seven hours in the fifth match set. The play will recommence on Thursday at 10:30 am at Wimbledon.

After the match, Isner while commenting on the match said that it’s not going to be repeated ever for sure. However, due to tiredness, the players were not ready to talk apart from their little conversation on the court.

The 25 years old Isner, appeared extremely exhausted after his ten hours encounter on the grass court and seemed as if he would start crying any time or sneak off the court or fetch the closest bed and doze off for a month or so.

However, the first thing he did after the suspension of the play at 58-58 was that he flipped his racket on the grass and moved clumsily towards the toilet. That might appear irrelevant but so was the match in the first round between the two unpredicted players.

Isner came back to wipe out his match point which was his fifth one. After some time, the 28 years old Mahut stepped up to the seated umpire and said that he could no more play or even stand on the court. Isner also entered in the discussion later on.

Roger Federer, the tennis master also stepped on the court Number One for his second round clash while Mahut and Isner were playing in their fifth set with a score of 11-11 at that time. After dressing up, Federer told the reporters that he is fully aware of the match situation and wished that it would end soon.

While Federer was talking to the media personnel’s, the score board of the ongoing match between Isner and Mahut even got crooked and was thus disabled for the rest of the day. The seated umpire seemed to sit for almost 426 minutes.

Vicki Nelson in Medina got to know about this match and quickly switched on the television to watch it. Previously, Nelson was the man who made a record of the lengthiest match ever in the history of tennis while playing against Jean Hepner that stretched for a period of 6 hours 31 minutes in Virginia. Although, Hepner and Nelson finished off their clash on a single day but even then she could feel the pain for them, she added.

On the other hand, this match also recalled the last year’s final match at Wimbledon between Andy Roddick and Roger Federer. According to Roddick, men’s play particularly on grass contributes a greater benefit to huge serves. It happened between him and Federer in the similar manner like it did yesterday.

The play will resume today in the afternoon on court Number 18 at Wimbledon. Both the players would definitely be hoping to finish off the game as soon as possible.

Federer saw Isner faltering and slipping on previous Wednesday and couldn’t know whether to joke around or feel sorry for him. However, he did retain that there is no need to demonstrate the tie breaker towards the fifth match set at Wimbledon.

It’s accurately ideal the manner it is, he added. It’s ominous that these players will be feeling a great deal of fatigue today, tomorrow and even for many days to come.

With that, the game that would not conclude retained.
