The 26 years old Lu is listed as number eighty two in the world’s rankings where as the number one tennis player in the continent of Asia. As far as the ongoing grass court Grand Slam tournament is concerned, Lu performed exceptional well and reached into the quarterfinal match as the first player from Taiwan at the All England Club. Moreover, he also set a record of being the first Asian player who made his way into the quarterfinal of a Grand Slam tournament in a period stretching over fifteen years. He reached the round number four at the Wimbledon 2010 by hammering down Horacio Zeballos, Michal Przysiezny as well as Florian Mayer in the third match set.

The unseeded Taiwanese tennis sensation, Lu Yen hsun accomplished the greatest upset of this tournament when he defeated the fifth ranked American tennis ace, Andy Roddick in a 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 9-7 match set on the grass court.

In his match against Novak Djokovic, that turned out to be his last one at the All England Club, Lu after the match viewed that, “I did not play bad at all, it’s just that Novak played better than me”.

With this defeat, Lu’s momentous quarterfinal run came to an end. According to him, “Djokovic performed resplendently and outclassed my game”.

Both the contesters smashed a total of four aces however the Taiwanese Lu only won thirteen as compared to his opponent’s twenty nine and succeeded in just sixty five percent of his first serves in contrast with Novak’s eighty five percent.

“He put me in a position where I lost control on my nerves with his strong returns and provided me with almost zero percent opportunities to discover any of his game flaws. I was unable to handle the pace of his Novak’s game, Lu informed the Central News Agency after his defeat at the All England Club.

“I attempted to come back after he held the serve in the very first match set however, Novak couldn’t let me do that”, the eighty two ranked player said. I put a lot of extra effort to smash the ball close to the lines as suggested by my trainer but it didn’t work a great deal”, he added.

“My form wasn’t bad at all, however, I was not up to the mark in the end either”, Lu said. Novak surely deserved the victory.

“Obviously it does not feel good when ever you lose, but it won’t upset me”, he added. “The form of the players differs from match to match and undoubtedly I put up a good fight and expect to perform even better in the future”, Lu added.

The Taiwanese tennis ace who knocked down the fifth seeded tennis ace from the United States of America, Andy Roddick at the All England Club said that his game was not distressed by the schedule of the matches in this season’s Wimbledon edition 2010.

“I did not feel exhausted even after the match”, Lu said. “Novak’s flawless knock simply crushed my efforts to turn the match in my favour”.

However, according to Lu, he is still happy to have reached till the fourth round of this tournament as he worked extremely hard during the practice sessions prior to the grass court Grand Slam Tournament.

“The experience here is definitely precious for me as I learned how to train for the major tournaments against the world’s top ranked opponents”, Lu added.

According to many people Lu’s run in the fourth round at the grass court Grand Slam tournament came as a result of a stroke of luck however the truth of the matter is that luck also favours a player when he deserves it after all the hard work and preparation.
