I need a horse in the derby that is NOT the favorite with good betting odds that I can bet across the board win, place, and show.

  1. Gomez is riding Court Vision when he could  have ridden Colonel John, one of the favorites. Go with Court Vision WPS.

  2. Z Fortune looks like a good value horse, and Adriano would be a good choice too -- Edgar Prado chose to ride him over Monba and Tale of Ekati.  I think either would be a good choice to bet across the board.  I also like Eight Belles.

  3. Win: C. John

    Place: Eight Belles

    Show: Monba

    WOOT WOOT!!!

  4. I would go with Cool Coal Man, Eight Belles or Cowboy Cal

  5. pyro looked good and with big brown, colonel john, and tale of ekati.....he's 6-1 right now, but i'd say also war pass and tomcito looked good when i was handicapping.

  6. Z Fortune will be a great price on Derby day.  He looked like the better horse in the Arkansas Derby, but hasn't had a win since January, so you will benefit from the big price because everyone else has the "what have you done for me lately syndrome"... since he hasn't won, people won't bet him.  He's looking stronger as the races get longer and he was really running at Gayego on the Arkansas Derby.  And in a prior race he was second to Pyro.  He's bound to end up in front eventually.  He got a great post position and the race should set up well for him.

Eight Belles will not be the favorite since she's a filly, but she's had great form recently.  SHe's much more consistent than the boys.  She got a great post and will have a good ground saving trip... she'll be gradually getting closer to the pace and she'll make the lead on the turn and she'll have the power to stay there.  It might just come down to a battle between Eight Belles and Colonel John.

I just noticed that Adriano was given morning line odds of 30-1 despite breaking inside of a lot of horses who he is better than and who were given lower odds!  He's a great bet too.  Edgar Prado said Adriano reminds him of Barbaro.  Adriano has a good late charge and could get up at least for the show.

  7. We don't know the odds yet,but try Pyro,Eight Belles or Adriano.

  8. My pick are

    1) Big Brown

    2) Eight Belles

    3) Cool Coal Man

If you dont want a favorite I would have to say

    1) Bob Black Jack

    2) Big Truck

    3) Tale of Ekati

  9. My true favorite is Colonel John but I'm playing Big Truck on a win ticket and a show ticket.  His morning line odds are 50-1.  I'm playing him because my son's first words were "Big Truck" and the horse has the same birthday as my niece.

I also bet Sarava in the 2002 Belmont on superstition and won  at 70-1 odds.  So now I always bet a long shot based on something silly, like a common birthday.  Give it a try.
