The A.C Milan manager believes that the 4-0 battering of Palermo is crucial for his side ahead of the second-leg against Arsenal; warns his side against complacency.
Massimiliano Allegri has commended his team’s wonderful performance after their 4-0 victory over Palermo in round 26 game of the season.
The manager insists that the victory was extremely important in terms of the title race, and heaped special praise on the hat-trick hero, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede scored a hat-trick inside the first 35 minutes of the game.
Allegri also spoke special words for Robinho, who provided the important assists.
The former Cagliari boss, however, believes that the Rossoneri cannot afford to relax after the important win, and has urged his side to focus on the upcoming UEFA Champions League game against Arsenal.
While talking to the press, the Rossoneri manager said:
“We put in a great performance today and the lads did so well right from the start. Ibrahimovic scored three wonderful goals. Winning in Palermo was important and I believe this can be a crucial victory. Robinho did very well,
creating assists and working for the team.”
The Diavolo have been in great run of form, having won four of their last five games, including their 4-0 drubbing of Arsenal in the first-leg. The Rossoneri boss, however, insisted that it is important to remain humble in pursuit
of titles, as complacency can make AC Milan vulnerable.
“When we win so comprehensively, we ought to be more careful and try to put the game to sleep, because with certain tricks it’s easier to get hurt.”
When asked about the controversy against Juventus last week, Allegri refused to re-open the discussions on the previous game, and insisted that he is looking forward to the future.
“I’m not interested [on Juve], as I have to focus on Arsenal now.”
A.C Milan will travel to London, where they will face the Gunners in the second-leg of the last 16 round of UEFA Champions League on March 6th.
