Win against Sri Lanka will be Australia’s first step to revival, feels Cameron White – Cricket News Update
Australia’s Twenty20 captain, Cameron White, has cited the upcoming clash against Sri Lanka as a great opportunity for the Kangaroos to put their game back on the right track.
Although the Australian side regained some momentum by thrashing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 3-0 in the previous ODI series, the sour memories of their Ashes defeat followed by a poor World Cup campaign are still fresh in their minds.
Australia’s tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 will kick off with two Twenty20 encounters, scheduled to be played on August 6 and August 8, 2011, respectively.
White believes that that a comprehensive victory over the Lankan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 will be Kangaroos’ gateway to their goal of redeeming their lost pride and respect.
"If http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 was to win a Test series, that could be the start of something that was a good Test run, I guess. (But) I'm not sure whether you can get aura or something like that back in just one match or one series," said White.
Cricket Australia recently made wholesale changes in the side in order to put national cricket back in order. Although White was excluded from the ODI side, his Twenty20 captaincy remained safe.
White’s omission came as a result of his dismal performance in the last few months. Collecting just 271 runs in the previous 15 games, the 27-year-old cricketer performed far below his weight.
Yet, White is confident to shine in the next two Twenty20 contests against Sri Lanka, saying that his hard work during the last few days will help him regain his form.
Despite admitting that the islanders will be tough rivals in home conditions, the Victorian all-rounder claimed that the tourists have decent chances in the series since they are coming in after some gruelling training sessions.
"Before we left Australia we got some good match-situation practice in, so I think by the time Saturday comes around, we've got two days in Kandy, and I think we'll be very well prepared for not only the two Twenty20 games but the series ahead," shared the
blistering all-rounder who will be celebrating his 28th birthday after a couple of weeks.
