Win over New York Rangers ends nine-game losing streak of Chicago Blackhawks, they aim for more – NHL News
The staying positive approach has finally paid off the Chicago Blackhawks by ending their nine-game losing streak courtesy of a 4-2 win over their hosts, Ney York Rangers, in one of the crucial games of the American professional ice hockey league, National
Hockey League (NHL), at the capacity-full Madison Square Garden on Thursday, February 16, 2012.
It was one the unique characteristics of the Blackhawks that they had stayed positive amid all the rash criticism and attacks from all segments of the premier hockey league, and only a day earlier they had spoken of their greater hopes of becoming winners
gain.
They on Thursday night proved they were true to their words when they toppled the host side with a clear margin of four to two goals, after having taken a lead in the first four minutes, and maintaining it until end of the game.
The victory ended their drought of nine games losses and they dually celebrated it in the aftermath of the game.
"It's nice to have some music in the locker room," Blackhawks Right Wing, Patrick Kane, said. "It's a good feeling right now. The best part is we get it over and we get to play Columbus on Saturday. That's the best part about hockey, you get to keep playing."
It was most difficult and rare chance for the team to have pulled a victory amid an atmosphere of controversies and lashing of the hockey commentators that some players of the team had been receiving throughout their losing-streak of nine games.
In spite of that the win had come at a right for them and will certainly help the players to gain confidence and a surge in their form, as some of them earlier felt being on the verge of becoming direly disappointed that at the end could have affected the
team’s performance.
It seems that Blackhawks had come to New York well into an anticipation of the victory. They had arrived in the city quite well before their schedule and worked out on their training and fitness to boost their win hopes.
Their captain, Jonathan Toews, said:
"We know we can win. We know we can score goals. That confidence and boost of energy it gives you to know all the hard work is going toward something, it's a good feeling and we need to use it and build off that, not just expect each other to keep playing
that way."
In spite of the triumph Blackhawks are still rated at sixth position in the Western Conference, after staying atop a couple of weeks ago.
The position is expected to improve in the near future if the team is able to manage more victories to their credit, which has emerged to be a definite aim of the side since their Thursday’s win over Rangers.
