Question:

Win98 Accessories deleted, what to do?

My little niece played with my old computer, which have Win98 Se OS installed, and accidentally deleted my Accessories folder (under start menu). Is there any way for me to restore this folder without reinstalling Accessories all together...she's a tidy little girl and she cleaned even the recycle bin after it, so nothing left. I have to be thankful she didn't format the drive later ;)

Anyway, I know it can be restored in XP, but no software that would work there seams to work with 98...so is there any help, please? Even this is not my main computer, I use it frequently, so this really pulls me down. Thanks in front.

  1. huh........first i would download a program to undelete files.....search download.com or tucows.com for "freeware file undelete restore 98"

chances are unless you have installed or utiliazed your hd much the files are still on your drive.....they never REALLY delete until they are written over.  you have an ok shot this way.

otherwise think of it as an opportunity.  since TONS of 98 software is freeware now I would just google things like "calcualor freeware 98" and "paint freeware 98"......you might find more software with better features.  mail me if you have more questions or these dont work....

  2. If she just deleted the Accessories folder name under the Start Menu, (which are really just shortcuts to the original folders on your computer), chances are it is still on your computer. Go through Windows Explorer or My Computer then C drive and the Accessories folder should be in the Program Files folder. You can then add it back on to your Start Menu.
