Hello I am running windows 98 on a box with no independent sound card. There is no sound coming out of the machine. No windows startup tune or cd player sound. However when it starts up I Get

C:\>REM [Header] after the windows logo. I am not really good with sysedit or that sort of thing. Also when I go into the BIOS and turn the PC speaker off and on I get a beep when it comes on but not out of the speakers. Please help this machine is for my blind mother and it has an expensive screen reader on it.

  1. Are you sure this computer's motherboard has a sound chip?

If so, you need to download the sound drivers from the manufacturer's website.

Hope they have a Win98 driver available, good luck.
