WinAVI i-Pod Converter?

Question

whenever i try to convert videos to mp4 format... it doesn't work...

and i think it was something to do with my codec, cause a month ago, i was able to watch videos online with windows media player 11.. and now it only plays with windows media player classic

and also, a month ago it wouldn't work when i'd try to edit videos on windows movie maker, and now movie maker is working fine

so, if you guys have had issues with winavi converter and it has something to do with the codec.. help me out
