Question:

WinXP SP2 not detecting bluetooth device

I have an Acer Travelmate 5620 notebook. It originally came with Windows Vista loaded. The LED buttons for W/LAN and Bluetooth worked fine and the bluetooth device appeared in my Device Manager. I even connected my cellphone successfully via bluetooth.

After formatting and installing Windows XP with SP2, neither LED button works, my bluetooth device is not detected (it does not appear under device manager and I have no 'unknown device' listed here either). I've installed the latest Widcomm bluetooth software that I got from the Acer support site specifically for this notebook and WinXP, but when I click the blue/red icon in the taskbar, all I get is 'no bluetooth devices'. I know I have the hardware as it used to work before I formatted!!! I've spent hours, trying all kinds of tweaks and software. There is nothing in my Bios that allows me to enable/disable devices.

I've come across other threads of people with the same kind of problem (WinXP SP2 not detecting integrated bluetooth), but no solution yet. I think that if I can get those 2 buttons working, then I'd be able to at least turn the bluetooth device 'on' so that windows would detect it and I could point it to the drivers...

Also, the ePowerManagement does not work with dot net framework 2.0+ installed (all features are disabled). That worked fine with Dot Net Framework 1.1, but I need 2.0 installed (else SQL Server 2005 doesn't install....). ePower Management used to allow me to enable my bluetooth, then it worked 100%.

Please, anyone who can help, I'd be most grateful.
