1927. Value depends greatly on the condition and originality. One that old is going to need to be inspected carefully to verify original parts, but if it checks out that's a plus. These were hot a couple years back but prices seem to have stayed realistic lately, and the range is big depending on correctness and original or professionally refinished condition, say $300 to $700 based on the little information you provide regarding condition.

the serial number puts in the 1927-28 time frame. If you can send me pictures of it I can give you a better idea of the price range. I also need the caliber

Please don't post the entire serial. I could take it to the cops, claim it was stolen and if a cop ever ran the serials one day you would be charged and I could get a free gun.

According to your serial number your 1894 was manufactured in 1927.  Value?  Hard to say without seeing the rifle itself.  Four to seven hundred would not be unheard of.

As for posting an entire serial number, NOTHING will happen.  That is an urban legend.  Anyone who goes to the police with your serial number claiming the rifle is his and that it was stolen will be charged with filing a false police report.  He won't get a free gun out of it.  All he'll get is some jail time.  The police aren't stupid.  It would be better for that person if he had just stolen the gun.  This is the information age and the false report will be traced right back to the person who filed it.  There's nothing he can do with the serial number.  If he files a false insurance claim he also has to file a false police report.  Double whammy since insurance companies are now charging people with insurance fraud.
