squad develops and matures.
“These are young guys, talented guys, who I think will have good careers and we've got to be patient with them,” said Radford.
The host team went into the series with a number of young, inexperienced players on the squad, such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Omar-Akeem-Powell-c71441. However, despite the lack of experienced personnel on the squad, the team, which has previously been
plagued by politics and poor form, appeared to be making a comeback as they proved to be a challenge for the dominant visitors.
The Aussies went into the ODI series with a major psychological upper-hand, having won the Commonwealth Bank series, in addition to occupying the first position on the ICC’s list of top ODI teams. However, the Windies refused to make it easy for the tourists,
forcing the ODI series to end on a draw.
The 2-match T20 series held a similar fate for the Aussies, as they started off with a victory, but were unable to achieve a series win, with the Windies bouncing back to equalize in the 2nd match.
The tour boiled down to the all-important Test series, and the West Indies put up a strong show in the first Test, dominating the first three days of play. However, they were unable to maintain a consistent performance throughout, and found the match slipping
out of their grasp, eventually resulting in a 3-wicket win for the Aussies.
With the second Test drawn, the third match remains the only opportunity for the Windies to earn a share of the spoils, in spite of the fact that a victory will still see their opponents retaining the Frank Worell trophy.
However, despite a strong start, courtesy spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Shillingford-c2397 who claimed a total of 6 wickets during the Aussies’ first innings, the host team faltered during their own innings, and ended at a precarious 165 for 8 on day 2 – trailing by 163, with
just 2 wickets remaining.
Despite the disappointing show, Radford remained optimistic, saying the team would have plenty of opportunities to bounce back.
“It's not suicide for us. You learn, you come back and are stronger. Hopefully we can go to England and then perform there,” Radford added.
The West Indies will be following up their series against Australia with a tour of England, due to kick off on May 17.
