Window's Movie Maker won't let me upload videos from my digital video camera. What's wrong?

every time i click "import from digital video camera" movie maker says "Import Video could not find a compatible digital video device. Verify that the digital video device is properly connected and turned on" I did and it still wont let me upload! what the heck!

Does your camera have a playback mode? You might have to have the camera in the proper mode in order for windows to recognize it.
