Window Movie Maker Help?

I attached my digital camera to the computer, and it says the computer detects it. When I try o get video from Windows Movie Maker, it says it doesn't find the video device. What am I doing wrong? I need to make a video for a school project. Tahnks for any help.

Usually there's a pc mode and a playback mode try to alternate and see if one works over the other. does it have other outputs (i.e. usb, firewire 400/800, composite cable, s video) I remember my computer only taking the firewire cable and not the usb it came with. try different outputs to get MM to recognize it.
