I have a long flight next year, and i really like watching the world go by from a window seat... However i do like getting up every hour or so to bathroom/walk around. What seat do you recommend i book?

Also, as i am going to be traveling VERY light i am going on an expedition to Peru for a month, i wont be able to carry books, ipods, PSP's etc. as i can only afford to carry bare essentials on the plane, how can i pass the Time?

Thanks!

  1. i love the window seat and you can always get up and still walk around you just have to squeeze through people. to pass time i suggest you bring a book but if you dont like to read what me and my friends did when we flew to germany was we bought game books. it had all sorts of puzzles and games to play. another suggestion is if you like sudoku. i really enjoy them and hopefully you do too.

  2. Hi Tom, I used to have the same dilemma when I would fly long distances. The view from a window is very nice, but at the same time, you don't like having to brush past someone else and apologising every time you want to visit the bathroom.

Now I almost always take the aisle seat, since that allows me to go to the loo as and when I like, plus nowadays most long distance airplane seats are fitted with personal video screens which offer you views from 2 cameras, one at the front of the plane (the pilot's eyeview) , and the other looking straight down.

So that's (almost) the best of both worlds, right?

As for something to occupy your time during the flight, you could carry a couple of disposable books with you, or cut out a bunch of crossword puzzles to solve. Alternatively, an iPhone or anything similar would allow you to carry a couple of ripped movies with you, apart from your music. Finally, there should always be inflight movies on the plane.
