Windows 98 Internet Help, Cant get it to connect with DSL, keeps wanting to use modem. please help!?

I recently just did a clean sweep and reinstalled windows 98 second edition on my spare computer, now that everything is working and up, everytime i click to go on the internet this msn internet thing comes up andsays "we will need to install a modem before contunuing" i dont even have a modem card in it, only a DSL internet jack, (sorry dont know correct terms) but i want it to recognize my DSL, i have everything plugged in and now i just need my computer to know its DSL not Modem, is there a driver or how do i get my internet working? thanks!

  1. try calling the 800 number of your pc (hp, compaq etc) and they should be able to do a test and diagnose your hard device problem and check your open network.


  2. When you mention the dsl jack, I assume you mean the 8 pin network connection. If not you may be trying to connect the analog modem to a phone line, which will not work. You will need to re-install ALL the drivers for any hardware on the machine, this will include the network card.
