Windows Activation help plz?

Ok i have this friend and his problem is that his Windows Xp Home edition Activation expired... For some reason he couldnt put the code in anymore because it said the amount of times you can activate windows with this product key has been exceeded please use a differnt production key.has expired and it is a legal version of the cd to let you guys know so if my friend just calls up windows and tells them he wants a new Activation code will they give it to him for free??? theres one more problem, my friend told me he used his windows xp cd on a other computer because he didnt want to go waste another 100 bucks.. Is it possible for microsoft to find out that he used it on more than one computer when he calls them up on the phone asking for a new acticvation code?

When you activate windows it takes a photo of the hardware on your computer so if you put it on another computer and the hardware doesn't match up they will know, more then ten times I have had to re-activate my xp because of problems that I have had mainly virus's wiping my hard drive and when I have activated it again there has been a problem so I've had to ring the activation number by phone and get another key they have asked me why I'm activating it again and I tell them my hardrive got wiped, I used to have it on another computer before I put it on to this one but I told them that the computer I originally had it on blew up which it did and they acepted it and let me re activate xp. hope this helps.

I know your "friend" won't get a new key just by asking for it. If that were possible, MS would have gone down the tubes years and years ago. No $$ in giving away activation codes. Limit has been met and no go. Can they find out? Depends what information your "friend" gives them. Be wary of downloading keys, you usually get a little extra......Viruses, Spy ware......etc.

Guess your "friend" will have to spend another $100.

if he calls microsoft they'll happily give him the activation code

he needs to know product key etc @@@@ as it says very clearly

in the product activation util !!!

If Windows offers a certain amount of times you can use a product key, then they won't care if he used it on another computer.

I doubt they will offer a free activation code.

Unless he has proof of his genuine purchase.

But I'm not completely sure.
