Windows Explorer (Not Responding) Error HELP!!!!!!?

I'm running a Vista on my laptop, it came pre-installed with vista. A few days back, i wanted to open my documents and it said windows explorer is not responding and its searching for a solution, then it says its going to restart. and when i do it again, the same thing. i've tried ShellExView. how do i fix this. or is there another way i can see my files. Im not talking about INTERNET EXPLORER.

Well, I'm not familiar with Vista, but I've noticed that the more files and the larger the files in your folder, the more resources your computer uses up, possibly causing the program (In this case, Windows Explorer) to freeze. This has happened to me on multiple occasions with the two Dell computers we have in our house (Ones that were built to run XP, yet weren't made for optimum efficiency).

    Have you tried running some virus scans?  Maybe you have gotten a hold of a virus or some other malware without knowing?


  2. Don't know anything about vista, and I'm not sure I want to get it after reading all the "cons" about this system.
