Windows Firewall and Windows Defender On

Question

Ok so I got some updates for my comp and before I installed updates it switched my security to, Windows defender on and windows firewall off. Is this good or bad? Can I have both running? I can't seem to change it back so what are your thoughts and advice?

bad, turn on the windows firewall, off the defender. defender doesn't need to on all teh time however you may scan once in a while to see for spywares. but then again you can always install a better one which is adware professional.
