I am messing around with windows media center and I saw this thing for recording TV. I was wondering if recording or even watching TV through windows media center costs any money. This is disregarding TV tuners and their price. I have a cable hookup.

  1. Kyle,

Watching and recording TV costs nothing on WMC.  Like you mentioned, you will need a tuner card and a cable signal.  I record and stream shows to my xbox360 in the living room.  It sure beats paying Tivo for a program guide.  I'd recommend Hauppauge tuner cards to anyone.  The HVR-1800 works very well with Vista and also picks up a few HD over the air signals which are also free if you have an antenna and are close enough to broadcast locations.  You can get it here for about $97 shipped.
