Question:

Windows Movie Maker Question?

by  |  earlier

I'm trying to connect my camcorder, a sony Handycam, to my computer to upload a video. I think I need Windows movie maker to do that.

Everytime I try to click "capture from video devise" the error message "a video capture devise is not detected." I know the camcorder is on and so is the base that it sits on.

Any idea what the problem might be?

  1. Not necessariliy handycams, just HD ones.

    also,

did the camera come with a CD? or 2 (not just the software ones) there should be one with a video DRIVER which is required for the computer to recognize the camera. Kinda like a nametag (not really)

    I had this problem.

    What quality is the camera

and is the computer VISTA or XP??! -VERY IMPORTANT

if VISTA, the camera may NOT be compadable, my sony (older) is NOT. if XP, you just need to instal the drivers. :D

  2. Do you have it connected with a Firewire cable?

I don't believe USB will work with handycams.
