Help! Windows Movie Maker keeps crashing for no reason!! Everytime I open up Windows Movie Maker it crashes in a few seconds this happens consistently and not randomly what is going on there is always a Microsoft Crash Reporter and I hope Microsoft notices something is wrong because I have tried to open it hundreds of times and every single time it crashes! Is there something wrong with my computer?

  1. The acknowledged expert for windows movie maker is papajohn

If he can't answer your question then no-one can! I suspect, however that it is just a simple WMM instability problem as noted by an earlier answerer.

There are numerous free editing tools for video you might want to try:-

    Jahshaka

    T@B ZS4

    Wax

    Video Spin

    Vivia

    Avidemux

    Blender

    .. to name a few

iMovie is better than WMM but unfortunately you need to be running a Mac for iMovie to work. I suspect that if you have WMM on your machine you're probably using a PC

Information about these and more, and a link to papajohn can be found on my web site. Check my profile for that link

    Thanks... Freevideoman

  2. That's the exact reason why people stop using movie maker. It happens all the time. Here's a review from Cnet

"The plain interface promises simplicity with drag-and-drop storyboard options, though during testing, it was more like drag and freeze. The program typically froze while importing MPG video files. If importing worked, Movie Maker 2 would quit responding when clips were placed on the storyboard..."

A better alternative is Video Spin. Here's the article compares Video Spin and Windows Movie Maker

    IGo here to download

The program itself is easy to use but if you're need help, here's the guide

  3. Redownload movie maker. And yes, iMovie is way better!
