Question:

Windows Movie maker........??

I want to edit my videos on Window movie maker, but when I try to upload, this messages pops up saying:

The file __________________.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

Where can I find the "codec"?

Or is there a program where you can edit videos? Like I want to cut off parts(but if that's not included that's ok) and maybe change the colors or speed it up a little so the voices change.

  1. .MOV files are produced by mac iMovie and are not compatible with WMM.

You need to convert the files from .mov to .wmv format.

Run the file through a converter such as:

    http://media-convert.com/

there are heaps of other converters around.

  2. To answer your question, you're better off converting the video into WMV format then finding a codec. What the conversion will do is keep the video the same but turn it into a WMV format so it can easily import into windows movie maker. A good program to use would be A-Z video converter. It easily converts your .MOV file to .WMV so you can easily put it into windows movie maker.

you can download vegas movie editing software.

    or pinnicle

  4. I think "codec" is a video converter.  I'm not quite sure.  The converter may take your .mov and change it to a .avi or .wmv.  I do know that windows movie maker takes .avi because i use it.  Try looking up some converters.  I have a few searches i've found below.  Basically do a search and type in "convert .mov (with or without the dot) to .avi (avi is for video) or .wmv (i think that is for sound).  When it is converted you should be able to import it in.
